Due to our rapid growth, we are looking to ensure that we continuously foster a culture where improvement becomes engrained in the way we operate. Because of this we are looking to hire a WMS Project Manager for our office located in Lasalle, to help play a key role in identifying and leading the research, implementation, integration and continual development of a Warehouse Management System that will support and optimize warehouse or distribution center management. This role requires a highly talented, solutions-driven individual with strong leadership qualities, a curious mind, and effective communications skills.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
  • Learn and document current warehousing practices/gaps, recommend improvements in processes keeping in mind the functionality available in standard WMS packages and prepare a functionality requirement document
  • Actively lead the planning process, project stages for the WMS system;
  • Responsible for meeting with decision makers, selected WMS system owner and end users to define business and operations requirements and goals;
  • Conduct research on WMS systems companies in the North American market;
  • Responsible for the proposal and selection process including but not limited to managing and/or writing project specifications, sending out invitations and posting the opportunity to companies, receiving requests for proposal, analyzing reviewing and validating project requirements (technical and financial), requesting quoted prices, estimating project costs, responding to requests, preparing and making recommendations;
  • Collaborate with selected WMS provider to develop and implement project strategies and measure progress;
  • Work closely with the WMS provider, decision makers, internal units to execute various phases of the implementation process;
  • Collaborate with training manager to develop and document WMS system material and business processes, as applicable;
  • Collaborate with WMS provider to develop training program for end users;
  • Partner with IT teams and other internal units to facilitate transition to live support models;
  • Liaise with third party vendors as applicable.
Competencies, Skills and Abilities
  • Bachelor’s degree in IT or commerce;
  • 2-5 years experience in a similar position;
  • Bilingualism: English and French (spoken and written);
  • Experience with Transportation Management Systems, Inventory Management, Warehouse Operations, 3PL and system integration with transportation carriers;
  • Proficiency in business analysis;
  • Knowledge of warehouse processes and/or WMS system;
  • Demonstrated ability to lead project, work effectively across diverse constituencies and drive issues to conclusion;
  • Interpersonal skills; Strong collaborator, communicator and business partner;
  • Adept at anticipating changes and adjusting priorities;
  • Strong ability to solve problems creatively through both process and technology change.
